A New Year, A New Opportunity to Invest!

A new year and a new opportunity to help us grow!

We are once again offering investment shares for purchase to our members and supportors. Last year we successfully raised  $66,800 in investment shares.

We have been busy the past year putting these investments to work. We were able to double the fleet (we now have nine cars!), introduce our service in more neighbourhoods and make carsharing available to more than 250 members and drivers.

~We want to do it again~

This year our goal is to raise $50,000 in investment shares by March 31, 2014. This money will allow us to continue to expand carsharing into even more neighbourhoods and ensure the car co-op’s sustainability in the long run.

You can help make this happen by purchasing shares and/or sharing this message. Just like last year, shares are available for $100 each.

Once again Peg City’s investment shares have been approved as an eligible enterprise under the Province of Manitoba’s Community Enterprise Development (CED) Tax Credit Program. This means that come tax time you will be eligible to claim a tax credit of 30% of the amount of your investment. Different than a donation, your investment is an opportunity to help you community while earning a return over time.

MEET OUR PARTNERS: Hollow Reed Holistic

We have partnered with some of Winnipeg’s best local joints for our Shop Local, Earn Credit campaign…and we want you to meet them!

Meet Nancy Hall, co-owner of Hollow Reed Holistic, located at 875 Corydon Ave:

Why is shopping locally important in Winnipeg? hrh-logo-2013

Nancy: Shopping locally is easy in Winnipeg. We are a community rich in diverse talents. It is easy to appreciate the many gifts that come from our inspired and loving people.

Hollow Reed has moved locations. Any new additions to the shop?

Nancy: Hollow Reed Holistic looked for a new location for over three years. We wanted to relocate into a space that could accommodate a kitchen for our tea production, which led to the development of our inspired Hollow Reed Holistic Cafe. We are offering the best in Manitoba produced food and teas and coffee, to enjoy in our relaxing cafe, or take to go. It’s our intention to help folks on a path of wellness, with happiness leading the way. And the food is sooo good!

Can you tell us about the importance of alternative and non-western medicine? What are some holistic services Hollow Reed provides?

Nancy: We’re very happy to be a destination for a very diverse demographic, to access the best quality herbs and essential oils, food and information. Chad Cornell is our Holistic practitioner who offers consults, to assist people in finding natural solutions to their health concerns. As an aromatherapist, I offer sessions in perfumery, custom blending and oracle guidance. Kalee Mund provides ayurvedic consultation and treatment. We also have an exciting new year of education coming! Stay tuned byDSC_0421 signing up to our news letter!
For me, a holistic approach to wellness is essential. We are truly blessed to live in an age when the technologies of the east and west are available to all. Sweat-lodges, yoga, expressive dance and music, live foods and a good cry are all a part of what keeps me happy, and there are no ill side effects to that kind of treatment! To heal is to be happy.
